I approach your space with my creativity and sensitivity, and with a blend of Interior Design, REdesign, and Feng Shui. I offer ideas, coaching, and transforming of spaces to help create a home you'll love.
What is "Interior Redesign"?
Redesign is an environmentally-friendly design philosophy that improves the arrangement of your existing belongings before buying more stuff. Using interior design concepts and a hands-on process, it re-thinks and re-arranges your furniture, art, and accessories to pull your spaces together in ways that really work. Sometimes a few new touches are suggested to complete the vision.
What is "Feng Shui"?
The essence of Feng Shui is that our lives are strongly affected by our environments, and that nature is the ideal teacher of how to powerfully arrange our living spaces to work with universal patterns of energy. Utilizing these lessons helps brings our spaces into balance, which in turn helps our lives come into balance. In this way, Feng Shui supports and enhances our health, relationships, careers, and overall wellbeing.
What is SpaceTransform?
SpaceTransform creates spaces that look and feel amazing. Designer Gwen Williams intuitively and seamlessly incorporates interior design and redesign with the timeless wisdom of Feng Shui.
How does SpaceTransform work?
Typically, the process starts with us meeting at your home or office. We'll look around the space while we talk about how it is used and how you'd like to use it -- your hopes, dreams, and challenges. We'll also discuss your belongings so I know what you love and what you wouldn't mind getting rid of; this will also give us an opportunity to discover whether there are any hidden ingredients (lamps from the guest bedroom? art stored in the closet?) that might serve a purpose.
If it's time for a redesign (or when it is, if we start with a consultation), I'll pull out my furniture-sliders and tools, and get started actually transforming your space. In some cases we'll work together, and in others I'll ask you to leave me alone for a while so I can work my magic.
I will:
- Reconsider your furniture layout and rearrange as necessary so that your rooms are optimally balanced, functional, and have a good energy flow, highlighting the pieces you love and creatively-repurposing as appropriate;
- Strategically place your lighting for tasks and ambience, noting if additional pieces are needed;
- Carefully hang or re-hang your art to maximum effect, or creatively "make art" out of other things I find in your home and yard;
- Organize and refine contents of bookshelves and other storage pieces;
- Artfully arrange your accessories and treasures so they can be truly appreciated.
After a redesign (and in some cases before), I'll have a strong understanding of the space and what else, if anything, would be perfect to finish it off. I can then help with any additional steps such as:
- Choosing new decorative touches (such as pillows, plants, or curtains) to pull the space together and/or freshen it up;
- Determining cohesive color palettes and suggesting paint colors;
- Making informed and smart furniture purchases;
- Referring you to other home service providers as necessary.
